Ambulance uniform to save NHS £3.4m

A procurement project that has made the first standardised uniform for UK Ambulance Trusts is set to save the National Health Service £3.4million.

The project, which was put in place by the National Ambulance Procurement Group and the NHS Commercial Alliance, could save the tax payer an estimated 37 per cent over the four year duration of the initial contract in comparison to old costs.

“This project demonstrates how like-minded NHS organisations across the UK, with a common requirement, can successfully collaborate to achieve quality and efficiency benefits,” said Daren Hopkinson, chair of the National Ambulance Procurement Group.

“Ultimately the 37 per cent saving feeds into our organisations’ primary objective, which is sustained patient care.”
