Bosnia-Herzegovina to become an intermodal terminal

Following the positive effect of the strategic location of Railport Arad (RPA) on development plans of Trade Trans Group in the western Balkans, the company decided to move forward by implementing intermodal transport solutions in the region, and establishing an intermodal terminal in Banja Luka (BiH).

The Banja Luka subsidiary Trade Trans Log has successfully started a first regular intermodal train in December 2016. After several months of train operations, the company signed a rental agreement for a designated area that is directly connected with the main regional cargo train station. This is a first step towards developing of a modern container terminal in Bosnia and Hercegovina. The terminal will be set up within the existing rail infrastructure in cooperation with local railways.

“We believe that like our terminal in Curtici, Romania, the project in Banja Luka will provide employment to the local community, less expensive transport solutions for the regional exports sector and environmentally friendly intermodal means of transport in line with the EU policy of shifting traffic from road to rail”, reads a statement of the Trade Trans Group.
