Budapest airport to offer a direct trans-Atlantic connection again

Starting June 2015, Air Transat from Canada will provide regular weekly flights connecting Toronto and Montral with the Hungarian capital

Air Transat will start regular weekly flights between the Canadian cities of Toronto, Montréal and Budapest from June 2015. With this Budapest Airport will be able to offer a direct trans-Atlantic connection again. The new flight will be served by a wide-body Airbus A 330-200 type aircraft arriving on Thursdays from Toronto making a stop-over in Montréal on the route to Budapest.

“We have been working hard for years with our Canadian partners to start this new service and now we are proud to announce the success of our joint efforts,” comments Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport. He adds: “With a sizeable number of people living in the Toronto and Montréal area with Hungarian ancestry or family ties the new flight is for sure to be a success. All the preliminary research shows there is real demand for this kind of service that will lead the increase of frequencies as early as possible.”
