CitySprint buys Letchworth Couriers

CitySprint has acquired Letchworth Couriers, in its biggest deal since the acquisition of Lewis Day in 2011.

It gains two additional service centres, in Letchworth and Peterborough, taking the total number of service centres to 39.

Letchworth Couriers, run by directors Steve Ketteridge, Dave Northfield and Ian Mailer, incorporates Ketts Couriers, which will also be become part of CitySprint as part of the acquisition.

Patrick Gallagher, chief executive of CitySprint, said: “This deal with Letchworth Couriers is part of our long-term growth strategy and allows us to enhance our service to customers in the local area with the addition of two new service centres. We’ll be working hard over the next few months to ensure a seamless integration of services.”

In a separate deal, CitySprint has also acquired Birmingham-based Sky Blue Couriers, which provides aircraft on the ground services, delivering time-critical maintenance parts in to and out of all UK airports. The founder of Sky Blue Couriers, Steve Burton, transferred to CitySprint as part of this deal.
