DHL Express Austria receives ‘Green Brand’ award

Activities for environmental protection and sustainability cause substantial reduction of CO2 emissions at DHL Express Austria

DHL Express Austria became the first logistics company in Austria to receive the ‚Green Brand Austria 2014/2015‘ eco-seal for its local environmental protection program GoGreen. The quality seal recognises brands that have proven their commitment to the practice and communication of environmental sustainability internally and externally in a way that is both transparent and verifiable. Last year, Deutsche Post DHL became the first logistics company to receive the ‚Green Brands‘ eco-seal for its group-wide environmental protection program GoGreen.

„We are happy to receive the ‚Green Brands‘ eco-seal also in Austria. This is an important confirmation of our activities for environmental protection and sustainability, to which we have engaged by GoGreen also in Austria for many years“, says Ralf Schweighöfer, country manager of DHL Express Austria. “As a logistics company we think we have particular responsibility for environment, thus we developed comprehensive measures for sustainable management in the frame of our business and cooperation with customers.“

DHL Express Austria introduced its first GoGreen products to the market in 2007, before launching the GoGreen program in 2008 to improve carbon efficiency. In the past three years climate-neutral shipment of more than 60,000 consignments saved 1,200 tonnes of CO2. Through targeted improvement measures and employees campaigns all over Austria, DHL Express has also reduced its own CO2 emissions by 11.2 per cent.
