DSV operates new Audi logistics facility in Heilbronn

160 trucks per day at goods receipt and shuttle transport with GPS tracking: DSV Solutions supplies Audi plant in Neckarsulm

On 17 October Audi AG has inaugurated its new logistics facility at Böllinger Höfen in Heilbronn, Germany. From there, DSV Solutions, Danish contract logistics provider, will supply the nearby Audi location in Neckarsulm. After an initial period of six months DSV Solutions will operate the entire logistics facility and supply the plant.

About 160 employees will work on 38,000 m² to ensure punctual delivery to the Audi branch. In a three-shift operation 160 trucks arriving each day, and thus about 4,500 pallets will be handled there, and provided on demand directly to the production lines for the model series Audi A4, A5 Cabrio, A6, A7, A8 and R8 of the quattro GmbH. The shuttle to the plant is tracked via GPS, to be able to respond immediately to irregularities.

Moving to the Böllinger Höfe was carried out in several phases. Just at the completion date of the halls in March 2014, the company 40 DSV employees moved in, who had previously operated a consolidation point for Audi in Heilbronn. Further parts were transferred gradually and then organised by segments and series. „Together with Audi, we have coordinated the gradual relocation and the planned ramp-up phase,“ says Harald Schefft, Managing Director DSV Solutions GmbH.
