DTC enters new paths in warehousing with Delphi

Deutsche Transport-Compagnie GmbH & Co. KG (DTC) assumes warehouse logistics on behalf of Delphi automotive supplier

Delphi Deutschland GmbH, an automotive supplier, has renounced the operation of an own warehouse for a while. Yet the conveyors in the factory do not stand still, which is the achievement of Deutsche Transport-Compagnie Erich Bogdan GmbH & Co. KG (DTC). The Nuremberg logistics company organises and managest he warehousing on behalf of Delphi since recently. This has also significantly reduced delivery traffic.

All suppliers and raw material providers are now heading for the DTC warehouse. This is also where the goods of the Delphi automotive supplier are stored, and distributed to the production plants according to demand. “Instead of only half loaded, only fully loaded trucks are calling the plants. This alone reduces the number of delivery trips by around 40 per cent,“ says Lutz Bürger, Delphi sales manager for Asia, Europe and South America, emphasising the benefits of this external warehouse. This results also in a better CO2-footprint. Moreover the company was thus able to considerably reduce its warehouse area and related costs.

This hitherto rather unusual system has made the search for suitable logistics partners quite difficult. “Because the storage goods are very expensive, we have extremely high demands on safety,” says the Delphi manager. The selection process took half a year. Finally DTC, a very experienced and trustworthy logistics company, was awarded the contract.
