„Euro Plaza“ becomes the new homebase of Panalpina Austria
Corporate competency centres for Panalpina Austria; Headquarters moves to Euro Plaza office park – Korneuburg will be warehouse location for Greater Vienna
The Panalpina Welttransport GmbH has largely completed a painful restructuring process in Austria. It was accompanied by consequent measures such as premature downsizing, the termination of warehouses and the redesign of processes.
„The resulting special charges had an impact on the annual results for in 2014. However, there should be everything alright with the processes, locations and employees now. If nothing unforeseen happens, we will conclude the 2015 financial year with a profit for the first time after a long time,“ says CEO Michael Schnitzler in an interview with the Austrian newspaper Österreichische Verkehrszeitung.
The most striking changes in air and ocean freight forwarding include the replacement of the existing decentralized structures by corporate competency centres. The operational departments previously represented at all sites now belong to the past. The airfreight operations will be managed from Vienna, like ocean freight exports. In Linz ocean freight import will be concentrated. The locations in Vienna, Linz, Graz and Innsbruck will be maintained. Their main focus will be on customer service in the future. Support comes from the centralized sales unit for the so-called „Industry Verticals“ from the automotive, technology and health care industries.
The three storage locations in the capital – Vienna-Inzersdorf (2) and Vienna-Nordwestbahnhof – will be replaced by a rented warehouse in Korneuburg, where the forwarding company has up to 10,000 m² of covered area. „We start here with 4,000 m² floor space,“ says Michael Schnitzler. The previous headquarters at Richard Strauss Straße in Vienna-Inzersdorf will be replaced by modern offices with 1,400 m² in the Euro Plaza office park by the end of this year.
