Far Freight and Gebrüder Weiss close the market gap in Central Asia

New truck groupage service of Far Freight forwarding and Gebrüder Weiss Group from Sofia to Ashgabat offers weekly departures

As of now, Far Freight and Gebrüder Weiss are offering a weekly groupage freight service from Sofia to Ashgabat. The 4,000 km route starts from Bulgaria via Turkey to Turkmenistan (alternative routes can be served on request). Due to the distance, customs controls and the road conditions, the run time is 10 working days. The main goods transported on this route are agricultural machinery, industrial goods, machine parts as well as automotive parts.

The new transport service is a result of the merger of Far Freight and Gebrüder Weiss. Thanks to its convenient location in South-Eastern Europe, Sofia suits well for transports towards Central Asia. Precarriage can be effected from all over Europe to the GW distribution centre in Bulgaria’s capital.

“To be best of our knowledge, there is no other provider offering regular groupage transports from Bulgaria to Turkmenistan at the moment. Gebrüder Weiss thus closes an important market gap with this new groupage freight,” says Thomas Moser, Regional Manager South-East/CIS.

Established in 1995, Far Freight has been organising and handling transportations to the countries of the CIS, the Caucasus and the Middle East since the beginning. The company has 20 employees, lately generating annual sales of about EUR 11 million, and was acquired by the globally operating transport and logistics group Gebrüder Weiss in November 2013.
