GLS assumes distribution across Europe for Israel Post

The cooperation was launched in May this year, initially for Israeli B2B deliveries – bilateral expansion of the collaboration is planned

With Israel Post and GLS, parcels from Tel Aviv reach numerous European markets within two to five days. The business parcels – arriving by airmail – are taken on by the IATA-licensed GLS Airport Office in Frankfurt, from where they are forwarded to the European hub in Neuenstein. Most deliveries clear customs on the day of arrival, enter the GLS network and are then forwarded to their final destinations.

“Many European countries entertain close trade relations“, says Saadi Al-Soudani, Managing Director International, GLS. “Together with Israel Post we will ship parcels of companies here and there reliably and transparently.“ In Israel the parcels are labelled with GLS-routing and addresses. Interfaces between the partners’ IT systems allow continuous parcel monitoring via the GLS or Israel Post Track & Trace systems for customers throughout Europe.

“Our export market is a highly competitive one. Our cooperation with GLS enables us to compete with the Integrators“, says Daniel Bottwin, Deputy Vice President of Operations, International Business and Affairs, Israel Post. “The advantages for Israeli customers are: electronic customs handling and fast support via a designated customer service via telephone.“

The next level of cooperation between the two companies includes deliveries of GLS parcels in Israel and the development of a pick-up solution in EU countries for Israeli clients. Under its Israel Post brand the Israel Postal Company Ltd. (headquarters in Tel Aviv) offers a broad range of services, including post, bank, parcel and courier services. The company has around 5,000 employees and operates 700 branches and 2,100 service stations. About 2.5 million post consignments are sorted per day. Every year Israel Post handles about 20 million international post consignments in import and export (B2B, B2C, C2C). 1,000 post vehicles and 1,200 delivery drivers and 350 couriers are working across the country for Israel Post.
