GS Frachtlogistik under the umbrella of Raben Group

Raben Group is expanding its transport and storage portfolio in southern Germany: Subject to the approval of antitrust authorities, Raben Germany takes over GS Frachtlogistik GmbH, with its own site in Garching in Munich. The purchase agreement was signed in July.

The core business of GS Frachtlogistik includes general cargo and full load transports within Germany and Europe, procurement logistics as well as warehousing and logistics services. As a member of the Raben Group the company will operate as GS Frachtlogistik on the market until further notice.

The change of shareholders covers the fleet currently operated by GS Frachtlogistik, consisting of 35 vehicles for regional transport, including trucks with a gross vehicle weight of up to 40 tonnes. In addition, Raben will gain 8,000 m² of warehouse space at the headquarters in Garching in north of Munich and 7,500 pallet spaces in a high-bay warehouse. A 1,000 m² air cargo security warehouse is available for transport orders that are processed via the nearby airport of the Bavarian capital.

“The acquisition of GS Frachtlogistik reflects our growth strategy in Germany, which we pursue according to the requirements of our customers. Specialising in general cargo business, full load transport and logistic services, the medium sized enterprise managed by the owners Roland Gigl and Roland Schopp is a valuable fit to the Raben portfolio in one of the strongest economic region of Germany”, Ewald Raben, CEO Raben Group, said about the motives of the purchase.

“The long-term continuation of our successful forwarding operations initiated a quarter of a century ago is ensured by our company transition to the Raben Group,” explains Roland Gigl, CEO GS Frachtlogistik. “Our experienced staff will now use their expertise for existing and newly acquired customers in the future under the flag of Raben.”

Raben Trans European Germany has 27 offices throughout Germany. The range of services of the 2,500 employees includes comprehensive logistics solutions, as well as road transport (national and international distribution, FTL [Full Truckload] and LTL [Less Than Truckload]), as well as sea and air freight shipments.

The Raben Group has 9,000 employees, more than 1 million m² of warehouse space, a fleet of 6,600 vehicles and more than EUR 1 billion in sales in 2015, thus counting among the leading logistics companies in Central and Eastern Europe. The group offers comprehensive logistics solutions for road, sea and air cargo transport and concepts for global supply chain management.
