Hand over for BAE’s £10.8m defence logistics centre

Pochin’s has completed a £10.8 million defence logistics centre for BAE Systems in Lancashire.

The 165,000 sq ft facility sits next to BAE’s advanced engineering and manufacturing facility at Salmesbury on the outskirts of Preston. The new facility is expected to accommodate a 150-strong workforce.

Samlesbury Aerodrome has been at the heart of military aviation since the 1940s, and the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership has been developing the site as a centre of excellence for advanced engineering & manufacturing.

Jim Nicholson, Pochin’s Ltd chief executive said: “RAF stations were among Pochin’s first ever construction projects in the North West, and it is testament to the quality of our work that we continue to collaborate with the aviation industry some eight decades later.
