Hungary extends trial run of EKÁER-Systems

Hungarian EKÁER-System: Guarantee for the road transport of high risk goods will begin on 1 March 2015; no sanctions in the first two month of the year

The Ministry for the national economy in Budapest announced on 22 January 2015 that the trial run for the new merchandise control system EKÁER will be extended until 1 March. Accordingly the guarantee for the transport of high-risk goods needs to be provided until 1 March, the committee of international road transport companies in Austria (AISÖ) announces in a posting.

The auditors and customs officials of the tax office will carry out controls in the first two months of the year; until the end of the year the purpose of these will be giving information. Until 1 March there will be no sanctions.

The experiences from the trial run such as feedback given and suggestions by the market players will be analysed by the Ministry. If there are problems and complaints, which can only be attended to once the legal norms have been modified, the respective amendment of the law will be suggested to the parliament.
