Kuehne + Nagel becomes active for Philip Morris in Austria

Philip Morris founds subsidiary in Austria and selected Kuehne + Nagel as the partner for distribution logistics

Kuehne + Nagel Gesellschaft m.b.H. Austria is to become active on behalf of the globally acting tobacco company Philip Morris from January 2013. The enterprise will handle delivery of the following cigarette brands: Marlboro, Chesterfield, L&M, Philip Morris, Muratti and EVE. The agreement with the previous distribution and logistics partner tobaccoland is to expire by the end of December 2012. Kuehne + Nagel International AG is the globally leading logistics partner of Philip Morris International.

The background of this reorganisation of the logistics in Austria is the foundation of Philip Morris Austria GmbH, as the parent company announced on 6 February 2012. The subsidiary of Philip Morris is to start operating in January. “Aiming at claiming and expanding the market leadership, we want to strengthen our local presence and cooperate more tightly with tobacconists“, explains Alexander Ott, Managing Director Philip Morris Austria GmbH.
