Nagel Austria: Seal of quality for Workplace Health Promotion

A great emphasis is put on health and well-being at work at the St Florian branch of Nagel Austria GmbH. This was now proven in black and white for the service provider specialising in food logistics, because for the first time the company has been awarded the seal of quality of the Austrian network for Workplace Health Promotion (Betriebliche Gesundheitsförderung, BGF). With this certificate, the network recognises the branch’s long-standing commitment to boost performance and satisfaction in the workforce through targeted measures as part of the “Nagel-Fit” project and to sustainably implement the topic of health in the company.

The project which was launched together with the Upper Austrian medical insurance company in 2014 proposed, among other things, to improve lunchtime catering. The branch does not have a canteen, but the staff have been able to order a warm meal and eat it in peace since February 2015. The break room has been redesigned in order to increase the feel-good factor for staff during their free time.

Other components of the Workplace Health Promotion project “Nagel-Fit” are sport activities such as participation in table tennis, bowling, football tournaments, and corporate runs. In addition, the workforce can get regular information on health topics on the intranet, on screens, and during internal company events.

The project pursued various objectives. Among other things, it was necessary to integrate workplace health promotion permanently within the branch; to optimise health-related conditions and work situations in quantifiable terms; and to improve staff well-being. “The award with the seal of quality from Workplace Health Promotion (BGF) acknowledges our success,” stresses Branch Manager Christian Rottensteiner. The branch in St Florian is currently expanding its workplace health promotion into occupational health management. To this end, the branch will train health representatives, who will steer future projects in the long term.
