New logistics centre with DPD Romania

Parcel services provider DPD Romania announced last week it has invested EUR 1.5 million in a new logistics centre near the capital Bucharest. The facility will have a sorting capacity of 70,000 parcels per day, the company said in a press release.

This autumn, DPD will also expand its logistic capacity in Sibiu, in central Romania, to 50,000 parcels per day, reports SeeNews.

DPD Romania is active in the local market in 2008, following the takeover of Pegasus Courier, the first urban delivery company in Romania, founded in 1997. It has over 600 employees (including franchises) and suppliers in Romania and delivers 7 million parcels per year. In 2014, Bulgarian courier company Speedy bought DPD Romania and GeoPost Bulgaria from GeoPost, owned by France’s La Poste.
