New representative of the Port of Rotterdam in Southern Germany

Ingrid Rossmeier to represent the interests of the Dutch seaport of Rotterdam in Southern Germany

The Port of Rotterdam Authority has appointed Ingrid Rossmeier as its representative for Southern Germany. She will be working from the location in Nuremberg. The appointment is part of the Port Authority’s policy to reinforce the position of the port of Rotterdam in southern Germany.

The primary task of the representatives is to collect commercial information, trace potential customers and establish initial contacts with the Rotterdam business community. The port of Rotterdam has currently representatives in Austria, Germany, Japan, Brazil, China, Russia and the USA.

After graduating as a business economist in 1977, Ingrid Rossmeier worked for mail-order company Quelle (including Neckermann), mainly in logistics positions in the departments for global imports and for trade with Eastern Europe. From January 2010 she had been holding the position of regional director for the southern region of rail operator Transfracht, which covered seven terminals, including those of Nuremberg, Regensburg, Munich and Ulm.

In 2013, goods throughput in the port of Rotterdam was 440.5 million tonnes (2012: 441.5 million tonnes). This is one million tonnes lower than the provisional figures of December 2013. In 2013 the port handled a total of about 7 million containers (2012: 7.18 million) or 11.62 million TEU (2012: 11,87 million).
