Port of Koper saw significant increase in container volume in 2014

Slovenian seaport of Koper saw strong growth in its container and automotive segments in 2014, but had to face losses in the dry bulk cargo segment

Slovenia’s seaport of Koper announces increases in cargo throughput for 2014. Handling a total volume of 18.9 million tonnes, the port beat last year’s figure by 5 per cent. Container and new cars logistics contributed substantially, with their volume up 12 per cent each.

In the reporting period 674,033 TEU passed the container terminal. The Car Terminal registered 518,900 vehicles. The dry bulk segment saw a volume decline of 4 per cent to 6.7 million tonnes. 2014 turnover of Luka Koper d. d. amounted to EUR 152.8 million (+12%).
