Port of Linz achieves record volume in container throughput
The port company profits from a future-oriented, offensive market strategy and the anticipatory planning of Linz AG
Linz AG can look back on a very successful financial year 2015 (1 October 2014 to 30 September 2015). Despite continuously difficult conditions, many segments were showing growth and achieved good results.
In the past financial year the company generated results from ordinary operations at the amount of EUR 22.2 million – „the best results within the past five years“, DI Erich Haider, Director General is proud about the results of the first financial year with the new Management Board.
In the 2015 financial year the port of Linz handled 233,830 TEU (+12% year-on-year), which is a record result in container throughput. Total onshore throughput rose 7 per cent to 2.14 million tonnes compared with 2014.
In the 2015 financial year also the new container gantry crane started operating in the port of Linz. The new device has a reach of 88 meters, counting among the largest in the Danube region, and can lift containers of a maximum total weight of 41 tonnes to trucks, wagons and ships.
