Quick launch of Navigate in the Port of Rotterdam
On 10 May 2017 beta version of ‘Navigate’ was launched at the transport logistic Fair in Munich. The online tool contains deep-sea and short-sea schedules connecting to 550 ports worldwide, as well as rail and barge connections between Rotterdam and more than 150 European inland terminals. It also contains a business directory of more than 1,500 companies operating in and around the port of Rotterdam, and an empty depot tool.
The Port Authority’s next step will be to provide more insight into the carbon footprint of container transport. And shortly Navigate will also contain real-time data on the Estimated Times of Arrival and Departure (ETA and ETD) of sea-going vessels. More operational data will be added to the system on a continuous basis
The development of Navigate fits in with the objective of the Port of Rotterdam Authority to improve the port’s competitive position. By mapping out all connections via Rotterdam, the Port Authority has made it as easy as possible to organise the logistics chain via the port of Rotterdam. Digitisation furthermore contributes to increasing the reliability and efficiency of the logistics process.
