Schwarzmüller Group is growing and investing

Product innovations and expanded sales activities increased turnover of Schwarzmüller by EUR 37 million in the year 2014

Schwarzmüller, the Upper-Austrian commercial vehicle manufacturer, ended the 2014 financial year with sales figures of EUR 272 million (2013: EUR 235 million). Consolidated sales activities in existing markets, the introduction of product innovations and the expansion of the service business all contributed to this growth. For the current year the Schwarzmüller Group is expecting a further boost to growth to achieve sales of EUR 300 million. This was announced by CEO Jan Willem Jongert on Wednesday 25 February, at the company’sheadquarters in Freinberg.

The strong growth from 2014 results from several factors. The market situation has been good. The investment bottleneck of the years 2009 to 2013 is gradually easing. At the same time, Schwarzmüller has been able to grow more strongly than the market and has gained market share.

The Schwarzmüller Group has consolidated its sales activities in all its existing markets last year. They saw strong sales increases in Northern Germany in particular. At the same time the group was able to increase its sales in the major East European markets in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. Austria is still of great importance as the domestic market.

Schwarzmüller is planning investments totalling around EUR 10 million in 2015, including in the automation of aluminium construction. The group’s international production association will be further optimised and capacities expanded once again.

The Schwarzmüller Group is one of the largest European full-range suppliers of towed commercial vehicles and is represented in 20 countries, chiefly in Central, South-Eastern and Eastern Europe. Schwarzmüller produces over 7,000 commercial vehicles a year, and currently employs a workforce of around 2,000 persons. In addition to its three production sites in Austria (Hanzing), the Czech Republic (Žebrák) and Hungary (Budapest), the company offers a Europe-wide network of nearly 350 service centres.
