SETG starts operating Austria’s most modern electronic locomotive

New unit of the 193 Vectron-series: Salzburger EisenbahnTransportLogistik GmbH is expanding its locomotive fleet successively

Salzburger EisenbahnTransportLogistik GmbH (SETG) has added Austria’s most modern electronic locomotive to its fleet. At the start of July a Vectron locomotive of the 193 series was taken over in Linz, and was immediately disposed for traction of block trains from Slovakia to Germany. The locomotive authorised for operation in Germany, Austria and Hungary is equipped with the new ETCS train securing system.

Gunther Pitterka, managing director: “The strongly rising demand for national and international block trains in 2013 and in the first six months of 2014 have also led to strong growth in our locomotive fleet: In 2013 we added six diesel locomotives, and this year two electronic locomotives, one BR 185 high performance electronic locomotive and just recently the Vectron electronic locomotive.”

The fleet of the Salzburger EisenbahnTransportLogistik GmbH consists of 25 locomotives. Two more Vectron units are being prepared to be added to the fleet as well. Like all train services, the Vectron is disposed from the central station in Salzburg.
