Stute Logistics supplies production of Airbus Defence and Space
Stute Logistics, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Kuehne + Nagel since 1996, supplies the Bremen production lines in the military and civilian area of Airbus Defence and Space. In the Material Management Center, the company is responsible for the incoming goods, customs clearance, the proper storage of 17,500 items, the on schedule production supply of the A400M assembly in Bremen and the shipment of precursors to the Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Seville. Also, the internal transport, the provision of materials for quality control, shipping packaging and handling of sensitive components are included in the scope of the service package.
The implementation period for the A400M project was nine months. The MMC meets all quality standards according to EN 9100, 14001, 9001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. Before commissioning two months were needed for the relocation of 55,000 carriers.
“The MMC has a high-quality logistics and storage area of around 10,000 m², taking into account the special aviation-specific requirements for the property, the hall layout, the storage space division and the warehouse equipment,” said Martin Weichhardt, Head of Procurement and Supply Chain at Airbus Defence and Space. “By the year 2024 a total investment of around EUR 50 million shall be provided for the project planning, the creation and the operations.”
On the occasion of the opening of the Bremen Material Management Center, Axel Krichel, Global Head Airbus at Kuehne + Nagel explained: “In the past 14 years not only the volume of business with Airbus has significantly expanded, but also a wide-ranging and mutually satisfactory logistics partnership was developed, which has been extended across Europe. ”
