TNT opts for Stralis following trial

TNT has added 20 Iveco Stralis Hi-Road four-by-two tractor units to its fleet, following an 80,000km six-month evaluation of a demonstrator.

“Feedback on the demonstrator we trialled was very positive,” said national engineering manager Steve Davis. “In addition to its good fuel economy, we heard only good reports on maintenance and reliability, while drivers also praised the cab.”

The Stralis uses Iveco’s high-efficiency selective catalytic reduction system known as ‘HI-SCR’ to achieve the latest emissions limits via a simplified after-treatment system and without the use of exhaust gas recirculation.

Iveco says this offers advantages including weight reduction, lower exhaust temperatures and increased durability thanks to a less complex technology.

The Stralis AT440S42T/Ps, supplied through Iveco dealer Sherwood Truck & Van, will operate with dry freight box van trailers carrying freight and parcels from three locations in the south – Byfleet, Alton and Southampton – to other TNT hubs throughout the UK.
