TX Logistik and EGS increase their offer from Rotterdam to Bavaria

Block train operated by TX Logistik and European Gateway Services four times weekly between Rotterdam and the terminals in Nuremberg and Munich

European Gateway Services (EGS), the logistics subsidiary of the Rotterdam terminal operator ECT, and TX Logistik AG (TXL) have increased the frequency from three to four weekly departures on their rail connection from Rotterdam to the Bavarian economic centres Nuremberg and Munich.

The intermodal link between Rotterdam and southern Germany had been launched two almost years ago. They accept continental loading units as well as maritime containers for transport. “Demand has been strongly rising in the past months“, says Frank Lehner, CEO TX Logistik. “This has led to over-bookings, so together with EGS we decided to increase the capacity“, explains Frank Lehner, CEO TX Logistik. This rail connection is mainly addressed to shippers, forwarders and industries with great import and export volume, adds Mark van Andel, director EGS.

The trains, each of a capacity for 80 TEU, are jointly marketed by TXL and EGS, with TX Logistik assuming organisation, disposition and traction. In Rotterdam they will serve the CTT and the two container terminals Euromax and ECT Delta. Also shipments by truck and river vessels to other terminals and ports, e.g. Antwerp, Vlissingen, Terneuzen and Moerdijk will be available.
