UPS targets online retail with enhanced delivery options

UPS has expanded its home delivery options in the UK with the introduction of its My Choice service, which offer advance delivery notifications, and the ability to reroute packages to another address or reschedule deliveries for a future date before a UPS driver makes a delivery.

Consumers can also activate a holiday setting to have packages held and delivered when they return home.

The UK is one of 15 countries which will now have the My Choice option, which has been available in the US for some time.

UPS has also extended its Access Point service, which is currently available in the UK and six other European countries, to include Italy, Poland, and Chicago and New York City.

Itwill also be rolling out Access Point to Canada and Mexico later this month and to further destinations in Europe and the Americas throughout 2015.

Last year, the purchase of online goods and services in Europe generated more than ÂŁ285bn, representing a year-on-year increase of 16.3 per cent.

Alan Gershenhorn, UPS executive vice president, said: “Our goal is to alert and deliver 100 per cent of packages to consumers when and where they want them. UPS My Choice and the UPS Access Point network offer consumers new and unprecedented levels of visibility, communication, customisation and control of their deliveries.”
