Vienna Airport „lands“ at cargo-partner and Makita Austria

cargo-partner and Makita Austria take over commercial areas from the Vienna Airport – thereby creating about 70 regional jobs

The Vienna Airport announces the establishment of two new businesses at their premises. The logistics company cargo-partner and Makita Österreich acquired a total of about 44,000 m² commercial area, with the aim of investing into new operational sites there. About 70 new jobs will be created thereby in the region. In total about 380 employees will be working at the new sites.

The cargo-partner group will expand their logistics operations to about 21,000 m². Makita Austria moves its headquarters to the new premises, acquiring about 23,000 m² therefore. New operational sites shall be established there with a low, double-digit investment.

„Makita Austria has decided to expand. Our project involves the construction of a new office building, including warehouses. For several reasons we chose the location in Fischamend. On the one hand, because of the central location for a possible future cooperation with its sister companies in Eastern Europe and on the other hand, because of the good infrastructure with nearby access to the highway, and the airport,“ said Nobuo Katamine, Managing Director Makita Austria.

Makita Austria is one of 40 locations worldwide of the Japanese Makita group and primarily sells tools and garden equipment. With the new plot Makita expands in Austria, and at the new corporate headquarters in Fischamend its current headcount will increase from 65 to about 100 employees, thereby also creating 35 new jobs in the region.

cargo-partner operates logistics services in Fischamend and expands its capacities with the acquisition of the premises. Hence the company creates about 35 new jobs in the region, in the future there will be about 280 employees.

Directly on the border to the airport area, close to Fischamend the Vienna International Airport markets around 140,000 m² production sites as part of the Airport City concept. The proximity to the largest transport hub of eastern Austria, with all their service offerings, short distances to local supply infrastructure in Fischamend and at the Airport, and the nearby A4 motorway and B9 highway make this commercial zone a perfect location for business locations.
