ZV Austria confirms presidium and awards ‘Jungspediteur 2014’

‘Zentralverband Spedition & Logistik’ calls for conditions allowing more added value in logistics business; Sophie Züchner was awarded the ‘Jungspediteur 2014’

At this year’s general meeting of the forwarding & logistics association ‘Zentralverband Spedition & Logistik’ (ZV), which took place on 21 November at the Suite Hotel am Kahlenberg, Wolfram Senger-Weiss (Gebrüder Weiss) was confirmed as president of the association, and the two Vice Presidents Alexander Friesz (Lagermax) and Wolfgang Schneckenreither (Schneckenreither) were also confirmed for another four years.

Moreover, Franz Braunsberger (Kuehne + Nagel), Gerhard Kapeller (Kapeller Int.), Walter Konzett (Gebrüder Weiss) and Gerhard Traußnig (Traussnig forwarding) were also confirmed as members of the presidium. Christian Braunstein (Augustin Quehenberger Group), Peter Umundum (Austrian Post) and Michael Schnitzler (Panalpina World Transport) were newly elected to the presidium.

The association has used the past months intensely to position the industry’s interests in policy on federal, state and local government level, and to put a positive light on the logistics theme among the general public. „It is all about making Austria as a business location more competitive, and promote added value in logistics instead of transit. The topics range from the promotion and development of multimodality and the promotion of innovative logistics, to the extension of the broad gauge railway in the Greater Vienna / Lower Austria“, explained Wolfram Senger-Weiss on the occasion of his re-election.

Essential requirements for improving the logistics location Austria can now find their way into this basic paper to deepen transport policy strategies of the overall transport plan, which was developed together with the Ministry of Transport and the social partners. After completion, policy must address these issues.

On the evening before, the ‘Jungspediteur 2014’ (young forwarder 2014) was awarded. The winner of a trip for 2 to New York is Sophie Züchner, born in 1994, from the Lagermax forwarding company, with her „freighters identification cards“ project, a computerized identification system for the efficient discharge of goods at terminals. The 2nd place was awarded to Mr. Koca from Kuehne + Nagel, with his project ‘cardboard pallet – The Alternative’  „Think Green – Go Eco“. The third place was awarded to Daniel Munzenrieder from the Gebrüder Weiss parcel service.
