£1m boost for container capacity at Grangemouth

Grangemouth, Scotland’s largest container port, is investing £1m in upgrading the terminal’s surfacing to add about 1,000 TEU to the capacity as well as improving the speed of operations.

It has also ordered a Liebherr ship to shore container crane and is developing a new IT terminal operating system both of which are due in service in 2018.

Port manager Derek Knox, said: “The investment in surfacing, crane and terminal operating system to increase terminal capacity and efficiency continues to ensure the port is well equipped to meet the future demands of our customers.”
