Amazon confirms Teesside mega shed

Amazon has confirmed that it is building a 2.01 million ft2 state-of-the-art logistics and distribution facility off the A19 at Wynyard, Teesside

A spokesperson for the internet giant said: “We are excited about our latest project in Teesside.

“We are in the very early stages of our development and look forward to sharing more information as the project progresses.”

The facility on an 82-acre plot will have a footprint of 546,892ft2 with an additional three mezzanine floors. There is parking for 207 HGVs, 791 cars and 60 EV charging spaces.

In November 2020 Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen signed-off £5.8million to enable the development to get underway.

Amazon acquired the site at Wynyard Park, last year from a joint venture partnership between Northumberland Estates, which looks after the business interests of the Duke of Northumberland, and Helios.

The building is due to be completed in July 2022 creating 1,300 jobs.

The internet giant is also thought to be looking at a further mega shed distribution centre at Teesside Airport.
