Amazon cuts out the middle man

According to Retail Week, Amazon has informed its European vendors that it will now focus on sourcing its products directly from brands instead of wholesalers.

The retailer has said that it has reviewed available options before choosing this approach which it believes will help to control its costs and ‘keep prices low’ for customers.

Amazon has said that its wholesalers will still be able to sell their products through its marketplace, and will also continue to work with them if they are the brand owner or have sole distribution rights.

As part of a procurement policy which the the e-commerce giant has implemented, Amazon has decided to focus on sourcing products directly from brand owners.
