Amazon opens Poole depot

E-commerce giant Amazon has opened a new distribution hub in Poole, Dorset in time for the Christmas rush. 

Developer St Modwen built the 112,000 ft2 facility which includes a multi-storey van deck on a 10.8-acre plot at Sterte Avenue West in Poole.

Originally the developer had sought to build a three-unit scheme on the site and had submitted a planning proposal before securing Amazon as a tenant last year.

Amazon said the new site, which is three times the size of the firm’s hub at Bournemouth Airport, was its largest warehouse on the south coast, which it will replace.
