Amazon secures Glasgow hub

Amazon is opening a new concept distribution hub in Glasgow after securing a 15-year lease on a 150,000 sq ft pre-let at Glasgow Business Park in Baillieston.

The news regarding Amazon’s plans was confirmed through a Tweet from Glasgow Councillor Elaine Ballantyne.

She tweeted: “Exciting new development within the Glasgow Business Park in Baillieston to be completed by Summer 2021 bringing 300 jobs to area. 150,000 sq ft warehouse with 500 electric van parking space. Have received confirmation Amazon have secured tenancy.”

Developer Muir Group owns the land which it acquired in an off market deal in 2018. The 28 acres of development land front the M8 at Junction 9 and forms part of the 72 acre business park. Plans for the bespoke warehouse on a 15.79 acre plot were submitted to the Glasgow Council last year.

The proposal was for a large distribution facility with external delivery and dispatch areas and additional van storage bays. The building will also incorporate office, catering and welfare facilities for staff.

Ryden and GVA are joint letting agents.
