Amazon sets up ‘pop-up’ Christmas fulfillment centre in Peterborough

Internet retailer Amazon has opened a 700,000ft2 plus ‘pop up’ fulfilment centre in Peterborough to cope with the expected demand ahead of Christmas.

Amazon has taken the 736,708ft2 former Debenham’s unit at Kingston Park, Hampton on an initial short term lease to support its primary warehouse on the adjacent site. Around 2,000 temporary jobs are expected to be created.

The fully fitted warehouse boasts a 680,997ft2 warehouse with 11,000ft2 of pallet storage space and 45,000ft2 of office space. The warehouse has 16m eaves, 71 docks and four level access doors as well as a 60m service yard, 500 car parking and 71 HGV spaces.

It will be the fourth centre operated by Amazon in Peterborough. As well as its fulfilment centre at Kingston Park, Amazon has a centre at Orton Southgate and a new delivery station at Peterborough Gateway.

CBRE is advising Amazon. CBRE and Burbage Realty are acting for the landlord.
