Amazon workers determined to win first ever UK strike

Employees at Amazon’s Coventry facility are have taken part in a second day of industrial action after concerns over treatment and pay have continued.

In January, employees at the Coventry depot became the first in the UK to take strike action against the online retail giant.

The GMB union, which Amazon does not recognise, is calling for a pay rise from £10.50 to £15 per hour.

Amazon has said that it has offered ‘competitive pay’ which has risen by 29% since 2018.

According to the union, the strike is expected to cost Amazon more than £2 million.

The strikes are set to continue today and more are planned for five consecutive days from March 13th to the 17th.
