Automobile logistics: BLG and STS to cooperate in Poland

The BLG Group and STS Logistic have resolved a closer cooperation in Poland. In future, they will jointly operate the Auto Terminal Slask Sp. z.o o. (ATS) in Dabrowa Gornicza. To facilitate this, BLG has sold half its share in the terminal to STS.

“STS Logistic is Poland’s largest automobile logistics service provider and already operates its own terminal in Swarzedz near Poznan,” says Pawel Byglewski, an executive manager at ATS and Regional Officer for Poland in BLG’s Southern/Eastern Europe segment. Pawel Byglewski adds: “Together we’re planning the further development of the location. And we intend to work as partners beyond this as well.”

The terminal in Dabrowa Gornicza covers an area of 115,000 square meters, with a capacity for handling and storing 4,000 vehicles. A staff of around 40 take care of these operations as well as technical processing. Most of the vehicles come by rail or truck from the Czech Republic, Germany, or Turkey via the port of Koper. Then, from Dabrowa Gornicza they go on to dealers in Poland, or further afield to countries such as Belarus or Ukraine.

The company runs its own on-site workshop for technical processing. Furthermore, the site has three rail connections and three end-loading ramps. Forwarding services are also part of the portfolio.
