BLG Cargo Logistics ships tubes for Baltic Sea pipeline

Tube producer Europipe awards major order of loading pipes at the Port of Bremen to BLG Cargo Logistics

Last week BLG Cargo Logistics gave the starting signal for the handling of a new major project. Large amounts of pipes for the new Baltic Sea pipeline will be loaded by order of the producer Europipe Mülheim/Ruhr in Neustädter Harbour, Bremen. Soon Russian gas will be flowing through them towards Western Europe. Two pipelines with a length of 1,220 kilometres each will be installed. The first vessel, IMKE, was loaded at the end of April. One day later the HUNTEBORG vessel followed, and from 3 May one ship per day will be loaded.

The 12-metres long pipes from Mühlheim, weighing about 11 tons per piece, will be delivered on the railway. In total 18,500 pieces with a total weight of around 205,000 tons will be shipped via Bremen. Therefore 50 vessel departures are scheduled for the period between the end of April and October. Their next destination is the Finish port of Kotka, where the pipes are equipped with a special concrete cover before they are installed in the Baltic Sea.
