Builders’ merchant expands in West Yorkshire with 25,000 sq ft letting

Insulation and dry-lining distributor Markovitz has taken a warehouse in West Yorkshire.

It has taken Leeds based property company Pullans’ 25,450 sq ft Unit 2, Freeway Park in Castleford, Wakefield. The unit was previously occupied by Debenhams.

Markovitz, a family run business which started in 1935 and now employing more than 250 staff, has leased the modern high quality warehouse unit on a 5-year term.  The Castleford unit adds to the company’s expanding group of depots serving customers across Yorkshire, the North West and the Midlands.

The warehouse includes ground floor office space, a secure service yard, 3 ground floor loading doors and separate staff car parking provision.

Sophie Angus, associate director at CBRE’s Industrial team, said: “Securing this deal to Markovitz demonstrates a positive sign of occupier commitment to growth and business expansion despite the current climate.  The unit was let immediately following the vacation of the previous tenant, limiting any void period for our client and shows the strength and resilience of the industrial sector.  The mid box industrial market remains positive across the region with a good level of activity in the face of challenging times.”

Mike Davies-Key, regional director at Markovitz, said: “We’re very pleased to have secured a fantastic modern warehouse in a prime location for distribution.  We’ve been looking in the area for some time and can’t wait to be trading in June.  While these are uncertain times, we continue to expand the business in new geographical areas.”
