Celebrating Excellence: Kraft Heinz with Wincanton
Ahead of the 25th Supply Chain Excellence Awards, LogisticsManager.com caught up with Wincanton and Kraft Heinz, nominee in the Warehouse Initiative category at the Awards
Taking place on 8th November at the Hilton on Park Lane in London, the Supply Chain Excellence Awards are set to be a night of celebration, as the best in the logistics industry gather together on this very special 25th Anniversary.
How does it feel to have been shortlisted for a Supply Chain Excellence Award?
It feels fantastic to be shortlisted for this award, and both Wincanton and Kraft Heinz are delighted. During tough times our team have strived to achieve globally recognised standards of innovation, performance and excellence. To be recognised by our industry peers in this way is a tremendous accolade and we’re all proud – all the better if we win it!
We’ve been lucky enough to attend and win at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards before; we know it can be a superb evening, but last year’s celebratory socially-distanced takeaway curry in our conference room didn’t have quite the same glitz I’m afraid!
What has changed in your project since you entered?
Our project in the Wigan Kraft Heinz NDC has been a catalyst, and today the methods-time-measurement (MTM) methodology is being adopted by the wider Wincanton business. Other Wincanton customers are now directly benefitting from the toolkit, and new propositions and solutions are based on MTM standards to ensure best value and consistency with a common approach.
What are you most excited for on the night of the Awards?
We’ve been lucky enough to attend and win at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards before; we know it can be a superb evening, but last year’s celebratory socially-distanced takeaway curry in our conference room didn’t have quite the same glitz I’m afraid!
What do you think is the most important thing to focus on now in the industry? What should be the biggest priority when it comes to change for the better?
Staffing our supply chains with skilled colleagues is a huge challenge. We were recognised as “Logistics Heroes” during the pandemic – but we always were, and we always should be!

What made you decide to compete for the Supply Chain Excellence Awards?
The Supply Chain Excellence Awards sets such a high bar for entry, and across the whole supply chain and in so many sectors, that we consider this the top industry award.
In Wigan, we’re continuing to roll out the MTM methodology to other operational areas, supported by specialist software to drive the benefits even more. Across Wincanton the toolkit will be used on more and more contracts, both new and existing, to drive greater customer value.
How will you celebrate if you win? Where will you keep the trophy?
It will be displayed in the Kraft Heinz National Distribution Centre Reception – standing proudly with our awards from previous Supply Chain Excellence Awards!
What are your hopes for the project going forward? What are your next steps?
