CitySprint adds 40 new electric vans to its fleet

UK courier CitySprint has acquired 40 new electric vans from manufacturer Maxus to support its existing fleet of delivery vehicles.

The new vehicles have been ‘strategically deployed’ across the UK to assist in the reduction of pollution in key cities including London, Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Southampton, and Birmingham.

CitySprint believes that the vans are an especially ‘valuable addition’ to its fleet considering the expansion of Low Emission Zones (LEZ) and Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZ) around the UK this year.

CitySprint’s Chief Operating Officer Mark Footman said: “At CitySprint, we have always acknowledged that, due to the nature of our work, we – and the logistics industry as a whole – have an important role to play in lowering emissions.”

He added: “Our new electric vans will help us to reduce our environmental impact in the cities in which we operate and is a step in the right direction for us to achieve our aim of having a fleet of over 200 green vehicles […] in the next 2 years.”

Following this acquisition, CitySprint now operates an electric vehicle fleet that consists of 43 electric vans, 24 cargo bikes, 6 electric motorbikes, and 4 electric bicycles. In July 2022, the company achieved carbon neutral certification and has been working with Carbon Neutral Britain to measure and offset its emissions on a quarterly basis.
