Construction to start on Congleton industrial scheme

Clowes Developments is starting works on the commercial element of its Viking Park scheme in Congleton, Cheshire, which it acquired in 2021.

It has appointed construction contractor TanRo to build out 219,500ft² of warehousing space as well as 20,500ft² supermarket, and 36,800ft² of office space.

The warehouse units, designed by architect Whittam Cox, will be built to meet BREEAM Excellent and have an EPC A rating.

Williams Sillitoe and Harris Lamb are joint agents. The scheme offers a broad range of units up to 102,000ft², available on either a leasehold or freehold basis.

Andrew Groves, a director at Harris Lamb said: “Congleton has seen very limited new build industrial development in recent years and from other schemes in the surrounding area, we have seen pent-up demand from occupiers looking for quality accommodation in South Cheshire. The opening of the £90m Congleton Link Road has significantly improved access around the town and to the M6 Motorway so the improved accessibility is likely to draw in occupiers from the wider area, which will create strong levels of enquiries particularly from companies looking to acquire freehold premises which have been in very short supply over the last 18 months.”
