Covid-19 vaccine distributors set to strike

Employees at a north Lanarkshire healthcare logistics company are preparing to strike on two days this month.

Trade union GMB Scotland has served a statutory notice to Movianto in preparation for the two strikes which will go ahead later this month.

With the potential to disrupt the deployment of Covid-19 and seasonal flu jabs, 23 employees at the company’s Chapelhill based distribution centre will be protesting over pay.

The first strike will take place on October 28th for 24 hours, and the second on October 31st for a further 24 hours.

Alan Ritchi, and organiser at GMB Scotland said: “The pay increase should have been delivered in April, but six months on and with a grim winter rapidly coming down the line it’s scandalous that Movianto continues to drag it heels on bringing forward a decent pay offer for our members’ consultation.”
