DHL Global Forwarding, Freight: New CEO and top key figures for 2010

Roger Crook follows Hermann Ude as Board Member for DHL Global Forwarding, Freight of Deutsche Post DHL

 

The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG appointed Roger Crook to the Board of Management responsible for DHL Global Forwarding, Freight. Crook, 54, previously was in charge of the business unit DHL Express Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Crook replaces Hermann Ude (49), who agreed with the company on an early termination of his board membership by mutual consent and on the best of terms amid diverging views on the future strategic focus of the company. Ude stepped down from his mandate as of end of business yesterday and will leave the company as of 31 March 2011. The Supervisory Board extended the board member mandate of Ken Allen, CEO of DHL Express, by another five years starting 1 March 2012.

He has been active on three continents and intimately understands the needs of global customers," said Wulf von Schimmelmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. "With this decision, we are confident to be well prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the DHL Global Forwarding, Freight business unit." Native to the U.K., Crook has run the group’s express business in Asia since the end of 2010. He is a member of the global Board of Management for DHL Express and in addition oversees all global sales activities of this business unit. Previously, Crook held the position of CEO DHL Express Americas.

As the group announced at its balance press conference on Thursday, the Deutsche Post DHL group was able to substantially increase turnover and profitability in the 2010 business year. With the group’s turnover having risen 11.4 per cent to EUR 51.5 billion, they were able to achieve an operating result (EBIT) of EUR 2.2 billion.The Global Forwarding, Freight division generated a turnover of EUR 14.3 billion in the past financial year; this means a year-on-year growth of 27.6 per cent. In air freight a 18.8 per cent increase (up 701,000 tons) to around 4.4 million tons was seen. Ocean freight volume rose 6 per cent or 157,000 TEU to around 2.8 million TEU.
