DP World build new berth at London Gateway

The project is set to cost £350 million, with construction expected to be completed by 2024.

The London Gateway consists of a deep sea port, a logistics park and an international rail terminal. The addition of a fourth berth will expand the capacity of DP World’s London facility by a third and allow up to four ships to dock simultaneously.

Ernst Schulze, Chief Executive of DP World UK said: “I am delighted that we have taken the next step in delivery of the new fourth berth and made clear our commitment to investing in and regenerating the areas where we operate. Over the next 10 years we have earmarked a further £1 billion of investment in this country”.

Construction and Civil Engineering firm McLaughlin and Harvey has been awarded the contract to oversee the berth’s construction. Its Civil Engineering Director, Seamus Devlin, described the extra berth as a “vital piece of national infrastructure”.
