DPD is investing EUR 3.3 million into 450 new swap bodies

DPD Austria – Austria’s leading private parcel service – continues to focus on the expansion of its locations and is investing around EUR 3.7 million to purchase new swap bodies for its main transshipment point in Linz / Hörsching.

“In Linz / Hörsching, around 140 trucks are loaded and unloaded daily, at 14 unloading gates and 58 loading gates. For this reason, 450 new swap bodies have recently become available in our fleet,” explains Mag. Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director DPD Austria.

All swap bodies are of standard size and can therefore be used in all DPD depots in Europe and with any truck equipment. In addition to the newly purchased swap bodies, the existing 150 will also be equipped with GPS devices. For this purpose, another EUR 400,000 will be invested in Linz / Hörsching.

Founded 30 years ago as the first private parcel service (at that time APS-Austria Paket System), DPD Austria today offers a wide range of services for national and international parcel distribution. In Austria a staff of approximately 1,700 people, with a fleet of 1,000 vehicles, shipped approximately 46,5 million parcels in 2017. The DPD Pickup Parcelshop network now includes more than 1,200 pick-up and drop-off points throughout Austria.
