DPD launches parcel sending from app

Parcel delivery company DPD is offering consumers an easy, paperless way to send parcels to 20 countries across Europe with new ‘send parcel’ function on its Your DPD app.

The app generates a QR code, so users do not need to print a label. They can use the app to locate the nearest DPD Pickup location and just need to show the code when they drop off their parcel.

Users can see all their shipped parcels in one place and track them at every stage, receiving notifications when the parcel has been picked up from the shop and successfully delivered.

The Your DPD app was launched in 2016 and has almost 3 million users in the UK. Customers can specify preferred neighbours for deliveries, provide multiple delivery addresses, share images of a ‘safe place’ for deliveries and to opt out of deliveries around the school run.

“Consumers told us that they don’t always find sending parcels that straightforward,” said DPD CEO Dwain McDonald. “Because consumers can control every aspect of their delivery, we have a higher first-time delivery rate for app users.  Plus, they now have a great new way to send parcels too!”
