Flybe administration ‘puts supply chain jobs at risk’
The GMB union has warned that up to 1,400 supply chain jobs could be at “immediate risk” after airline and air cargo carrier Flybe entered administration.
Flybe appointed Alan Hudson, Joanne Robinson, Lucy Winterborne, and Simon Edel of EY as joint administrators on 5 March.
In a statement, the airline and air cargo carrier said that “all flights have been grounded and the UK business has ceased trading with immediate effect”.

However Nadine Houghton, GMB national officer, said: “These unfolding developments are a tragedy not only for Flybe’s loyal workforce, but a domino effect now puts 1,400 jobs in the wider supply chain at immediate risk and threatens the future of vital regional airports.
“The last thing regions crying out for investment need is to see infrastructure that maintains good jobs ripped away.
“We need the Government to urgently step in and save jobs wherever possible. The damage to already fragile local economies must be minimised.”
Flybe is owned by Connect Airways, a union made up of US hedge fund Cyrus Capital, Virgin Atlantic, and infrastructure group Stobart.
