Getir to cut hundreds of jobs

Rapid delivery company Getir is set to get rid of between 200-300 employees following a merger with former last mile delivery rival Gorillas, according to Charged.

The company, which bought Gorillas in December for $1.2 billion is understood to have delayed the move to its new office as it cannot accommodate employees until jobs are cut, according to a current employee.

The move was expected to happen in February but is being pushed to mid March.

Although the exodus has not happened yet, the employee has said that Getir’s senior management has applied to the Government Redundancy Payments Service department.

The company issued a return-to-office mandate demanding employees return to the office five days a week which has led to ‘mass walkouts’ by remaining employees.

The company has been contacted for comment.
