Hornbach opens its CEE logistics hub in Lower Austria

DIY chain Hornbach opened its first logistics center outside Germany on 8 January in Enzersdorf an der Fischa. At the location in Enzersdorf they work together with an external service provider. The hall area (excluding office and outside areas) covers nearly 6,000 m².

From the new cross-docking center, 23 DIY megastores with garden centers belonging to Hornbach Baumarkt AG in Austria, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia will be supplied with goods, the company reports in a press release. “With this new logistics location, we have significantly shorter delivery routes and times for our markets in Central and Eastern Europe,” explains Bernhard Dieckmann, Head of Group Logistics at Hornbach Baumarkt AG.

So far, the family-owned German company has operated four logistics centers – in Essingen (Baden-Württemberg), Vilshofen (Bavaria), in Lehrte and Soltau (Lower Saxony). Hornbach operates 156 DIY megastores with garden centers in nine European countries, 14 of them in Austria.
