Insolvency of Schauperl Josef Transport GmbH

Styrian Transport company Schauperl Josef becomes insolvency case

On 13 August the regional court Landesgericht Graz opened bankruptcy proceedings about the assets of the Schauperl Josef Transport GmbH (Fladnitz im Raabtal). Liabilities amount to EUR 6 million, according to the AKV Association for protection of trade and industry. After deduction of assets amounting to EUR 3.5 million, excess of liabilities amounts to around EUR 2.5 million. The reasons for the insolvency were rising fuel prices and expenditures as well as considerable decreases in turnover. From 2003 to 2007 sales revenues fell from EUR 15.3 million to EUR 8.4 million. However, the situation became fiercer due to the economic crisis at last. The debtor company was established in 1962 and employs 55 persons in Austria. Its subsidiaries in Slovakia and Romania have 8 and 13 employees respectively on their payrolls. “In the frame of a restructuring some divisions shall be closed down and staff has to be reduced by 19 persons. The next target is an enforced compensation with creditors“, AKV announced in a press release.
